Mission

 

TEENS READING ZONE! was created to provide learning opportunities regarding the improvement of reading skills and comprehension through the appropriate use of ICT.

 This VLRC has the following objectives:

·   To allow learners collaborative work, by means of virtual scenarios.

·   To facilitate lifelong learning, through a variety of online materials and activities centered on the learners, helping them transform information into knowledge.

·   To raise motivation based on the development of meaningful activities and materials.

·   To guide students in the process of being autonomous learners by the promotion of self-assessment.  

 

Srudents' Profile

 

This VLRC is addressed to a population of learners composed by a group of 12 to 14 year old seventh graders. Their English level is A1 because they do not have enough opportunities for learning. They are currently dealing with their developmental stage of adolescence. For this reason, they should be taught particularly focusing on learning strategies that promote their autonomy and motivation  to overcome difficulties concerning their learning process, mainly to improve reading comprehension such as identifying the main idea of a text, vocabulary and also, encouraging them to express and interact effectively, exchanging  opinions and ideas with others through forums.

Dear students,

My name is Diana Guerrero. I have been an English teacher for almost 14 years. I have worked in pre-school, primary and high school, also I have taught different subjects such as science, e-learning, story telling, English and Spanish. I love reading and learning about english language teaching and ICT. In my free time, I play basketball, go to the movies, and share meaningful time with my family. I love to be a teacher.
